My Retreat

I so love my front porch...my favorite place to take a break from weeding and rock-n-rest. So peaceful, shady and quiet-a place to enjoy some of my flowers. My matching rocking chairs were a gift from my husband for my birthday a few years back. We had been to Arkansa for a visit and whenever we go to the south we ALWAYS go to Cracker Barrell-that is a requirement by me!!! I was drooling over the rockers...unknown to me my husband ordered a set and had them delivered. They were shipped to his moms and then my dad "snuck"-is that a word?!?!-down to her house to put them together. I went down there and was secretly disappointed that SHE got the chairs when I had so wished for one! Surprise!!!!!-they were for me!! I was thrilled-one of my very favorite things that my husband has done for me-he also gave me a swing to enjoy...HE loves to take a nap there and read his newspaper! He is GREAT at surprises and I love them!! Thanks, honey-I will forever be grateful for my rockers!

"My Gardener"

I have a personal gardener......my hubby!!! We have been bugging him to take up a hobby...relax and enjoy life a bit-take time to "smell the roses"! He finally has done just that!! He began a couple years ago by raising geraniums from seed-on the kitchen table in Olympia, then once his babies were big enough, he brought them home. Last year I had a variety of over 300 geraniums to beautify our yard!! Once Gary had success with his flowers, he decided to raise a variety of gourds-which led into a family adventure....planting a garden! He even found a small tractor and bought it to make gardening a bit easier-or more fun!! We had carrots, radishes, corn, jalepeno peppers, a variety of melons, cantalope, giant pumpkins, onions, cucs, squash and tons of gourds! He has BIG plans for this years garden!

...Great Uncle Gary showing off his gourds to his great neices!

A New Year....2010!!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!

I am about to begin a new venture.....blogging!!! Life is amazing and I decided this is a great way to share my memories, thoughts and adventures so my children and grandchildren will have my cherished memories to pass down to their families.

With some encouragement and prodding from my most favorite sister in the world...my ONLY sister.....I am venturing into this world of blogging!

My given name...Deborah...means "busybee" thus the name of my blog.

God's blessings to you and your family as this new year begins.
